All in the Details

A SWEET SPOT TO START-20140424 192737-0002

We just adore all the sweet details that go into hosting an event. Whether you are throwing the wedding of the decade, or hosting an intimate 8 course dinner party, there are countless tiny details that contribute to the proper execution of a flawless affair.

For instance, we love using the juxtaposition of something that is hyper feminine  such as a sweet tea cup and saucer, mercury glass, and placing them with an antler.

An overgrown table is sure to impress, however there is something magical when you fuse other decor elements with a layered tablescape. For instance, use other furniture pieces to accent your table. This gives so much more vibrancy and texture to your dining room.

Hunting and Gathering

Cold Tundra

That time of year is finally upon us, with our first snowfall in Dallas a thing of the past, we begin the official countdown to the new holiday season. Our awesome team has been working around the clock preparing for this holiday season. Each year in November a select few of our team make the trek to Colorado to harvest wood and other design elements off the farm. As layers and layers of warm clothing, gloves, hats, and boots were piled into the trucks, no one could really prepare the team for the cold they were about to face.

The farm is located deep in the heart of the Colorado mountains, a truly pristine landscape. Here, trickling streams have been lightly dusted with the first snowfall, and are visited by wild animal more-so than humans. Winter serves as undeniable proof that abundant life has once flourished; while now deep in its slumber, a continual reminder that life will once again return, and this picturesque stream will be shaded once again.

After traversing through snow, streams, and rolling hills, the team of designers began their winters harvest. At 25 degrees below zero, the several layers of bundled clothing could not take the chill away. Whistling wind danced through the trees as if to welcome us into their home, and the soft tranquil sounds of nature  were interrupted only by the soft crunching of fresh snowfall under our feet, and echoing laughter.

This year was truly special, as our visiting Swiss designer ventured from Dallas, Texas to the snowy state of Colorado. He selected branches that will be used in our Holiday collection of centerpieces, wreathes, and arrangements.

For a week, the team gathered, created, and transported items back to the Dallas metroplex to ensure that when you purchase an arrangment from Cebolla Fine Flowers, you will be purchasing items that are organically harvested off our Colorado farm. These are items we raise and create, so that you can bring a little piece of our home into yours.

Here at Cebolla Fine Flowers, we believe in the selection process. By selecting where our florals are raised, our tight knit relationships with our growers, and directly importing guarantees a quality that is unsurpassed. In the same respect, we value collecting design elements straight from our tranquil farm. This enables our team to provide our treasured clients with the best florals, arrangements, and home decor items available.  Fusing elements of the untraversed wild into your home is something truly special, and sure to capture the hearts of your guests.

An Affair Amidst Sculptures

Wedding Blog 1November is such a prized time of year. Starbucks red cups become a prevalent accessory among city goers, scarves and sweaters adorn Dallas’s inhabitants, and mittens are amongst the first items packed as you depart from your home. There’s something refreshing about trading warm humidity, for chilly “see my breath” weather. As many will say, the weather here changes it’s mind seemingly on an hourly basis, and this could not be any truer for this particular wedding day. Within just a few days, Dallas embarked from 90 degree weather to the cool 40’s transformation. Dallas in November is the perfect time to host a wedding, in our humble opinion. As the heat dissipates, the colder crisp air is a refreshing change of pace for an event space, and it’s inhabitants. This wedding, was no exception to that sentiment. The team departed for downtown Dallas with mittens and warm sweaters in hand.

Wedding Blog 6

Downtown Dallas is an exceptional place to host a swanky affair, and this bride and grooms vision was the true personification of style and sophistication. Every last detail was taken into account, and as guest funneled into the chapel for a indelible ceremony, they were greeted by subtle bespoken details that adorned the church. Ivy garland graced the rails leading into this sacred event, with petite spray roses sprinkled throughout.

Wedding Blog 2Once the ceremony convened, guests made the short walk to the Nasher Sculpture Center. This is one of our favorite reception locations. The Nashers’ exceptional staff, and well manicured gardens are nothing short of impressive. The glowing lights amidst the trees, the incredible statues seated amongst the reception site are some of our favorite attributes to this event space.

Wedding Blog 5The bride and groom dined at a table engulfed in rich florals and textures. While the temperatures dropped as the evening ensued,  the glow from the candlelight and strung tree lights highlighted the warmth of the divine golds, reds, pinks, and yellows flowers gracing the reception venue.  We were so beyond grateful to be apart of such a special day, and wish our bride and groom nothing but a lifetime of happiness.

An Al Fresco Affair

Al Fresco Wedding 1

As the final (fingers crossed) heat wave graced Dallas, the team geared up for a beautiful fall affair amidst the lush neighborhood of Highland Park. Fall is such a revered and celebrated season painted with deep rich floral colors making their final debut before a deep winter slumber. It’s a time for warm comforting meals, and shared table space with those you treasure most. What a perfect way to bring people together during this sacred time of year, not only to celebrate a union of two people, but the ultimate representation of two families uniting together as one.

Place settings were staged, the aisle guarded by a lush array of petals, candles were lit, and the sun danced across the ceremony space ornately peeping through branches. As guest arrived, their senses were greeted with such a stunning array of the seasons favorite colors, laced with rustic charm. There is something to be said for community abounding around a table in celebration, and being enveloped in natures most pristine pieces of artwork, the flower.

Al Fresco Wedding 3

The event was graced by so many beautiful things, and one of our favorites were these lovely ladies. Flower girls are such an endearing part of a wedding, and a long standing fixation in the American wedding tradition. The flower girl has long standing symbolism, which dates back to the Roman days. Their symbolism which represents innocence, and joy is the true personification of a lady stepping out of her role as a girl, and into the role as a married woman. The floral crowns were the perfect accessory to adorn such a  precious individual.  The sound of little voices, twirling in glittery gowns is sure to put a smile on just about any face.

Al Freso Wedding 4

Al Fresco weddings are simply stunning. We were in awe of such a picturesque ceremony and reception site. The grand tree that sat center stage of the event was beautifully illuminating the evening, gently allowing enough sunlight to make the glassware, glorious chandelier, and strung lights to glitter their surroundings.

Al Fresco Wedding 5

We loved being apart of  this sacred day, a truly lavish affair in such an intimate setting. We wish our prized bride and groom all the happiness the world has to offer.

DMA Luncheon 3

Twice a year, the Dallas Museum of Art hosts an event called Art in Bloom. This is a fundraiser that hosts art and philanthropic enthusiasts alike. Cebolla Fine Flowers was proud to be the Floral Sponsor for the event, as the Floral Endowment Fund is something we are proud to contribute to.

An afternoon spent at the Dallas Museum of Art is sure to delight the most discerning of tastes, and we were honored to be apart of such a special day. If you haven’t already visited this grand Museum, you surely must.  One could spend and entire day admiring the lavish displays of renowned Art pieces that grace it’s halls.

The Event began with a silent auction, where attendees could bid on floral pieces from shops around the Dallas metroplex, along with a stunning gown donated by the fabulous Hadleighs. Guests were also browsing amongst tables adorned with timeless jewelry pieces, and a delectable array of fine chocolates available for purchase.

Guests were then ushered into the Auditorium, and were greeted by the charming Danielle Rollins who’s creativity has graced the pages of Gracious Living & Stylish Entertaining. Her quick whited humor entertained guests as she so graciously shared some insider design tricks and secrets, all while assembling 7 floral pieces which were also available for auction once the seminar commenced. Be sure to reference her book, Soiree Entertaining with Style (Rizzoli 2012) next time you host a dinner party. Her style is effortlessly organic and glamourous.

Hadleighs collection was full of rich textures for fall and winter highlighting shades of blue. As the afternoon came to a close, guests mingled with friends, and partook in a live auction which included fine dining experiences at private estates, lavish trips across the states and abroad, and ornate jewelry. The affair was nothing short of an incredible success thanks to the expert planning of Chairman Barbara Durham and the entire committee comprised of Barbara Bingham, Beverly Freeman, Susan Fisk, and Emily Maduro. On behalf of Cebolla Fine Flowers, thank you for so graciously hosting such a memorable event.

Leap Day

The flower Heather, is native to Ireland. Since today is Leap Day, we wanted to share a flower that goes along with the tradition of this Irish holiday. The scientific name for Heather is Greek, and it means, ” to clean or to brush”. The twigs of the Heather can be braided together and then cut at the bottom to make what is similar to a broom. Heather comes in beautiful color.  The Heather we have here at Cebolla Maple location is purple, meaning good luck and also symbolizes admiration. This fits perfectly in with the Leap Year tradition of the women having the “privilege” of proposing to her boyfriend. If he is to say no, he must buy her 12 pairs of gloves to avoid the embarrassment of not receiving a ring. For all your brave girls out there today, take a piece of Heather with you for good luck!
